Lin The Missing Piece In New York?Before the game was over, the Madison Square Garden fans were openly cheering"M-V-P!" for Jeremy Lin.

Lin signed with the New York Knicks two days after Christmas and saw littleplaying time in his first month. However, on Jan. 28, he played 20 minutesand racked up six assists. This Saturday, he played 35 minutes and scored 25points against the New Jersey Nets. By Monday, he was the starting pointguard, putting up career-highs with 28 points, eight assists and eightturnovers to lead the Knicks over the Jazz, 99-88, without either CarmeloAnthony (left in the first quarter with a groin strain) or Amare Stoudmire(mourning the loss of his brother).

One thing that separates Lin from the other point guards on the Knicks'roster is his passing ability, especially in the pick-and-roll. Against theUtah Jazz, Lin repeatedly gave Tyson Chandler and Jared Jeffries the ball ingood position to score. The two forwards combined for 23 points, mostlybecause of Lin's ability to find the dive man.

The Knicks point guard also showed ability to get his own shot off at thehoop as well, as eight of his 10 field goals were layups.

However, it wasn't all good. Most notably the turnovers, of which Lin hadonly one heading into halftime. The Jazz forced Lin to his left and pressuredhim farther away from the hoop. Much later in the game, they broughtAlJefferson up to double team Lin and it forced the ball out of his hands. Inaddition, Lin's one-on-one defense might be suspect as well.

But given the Knicks' current rotating door policy at point guard, in amonth's time the flavor of the day might be someone else (*cough* Baron Davis*cough*). On the other hand, one thing that I've noticed about D'Antoni's NewYork tenure is that he will be more patient with a point guard that can pass,even if the player has a few other major deficiencies (see: Duhon, Chris).

As long as he cuts down on the turnovers.

只要書豪減低他的失誤，戴維斯恐怕只能跟畢畢守開特立了!
